Will Matthews
Will has twenty years experience in post-compulsory, vocational education and seventeen years experience as a leader and manager in the further education (FE) sector. This has included numerous Ofsted inspections.
Will is known for his unapologetic enthusiasm for the practice of teaching, and sound digital pedagogy in particular. A specialist in teacher development and digital learning, he has delivered numerous teacher training and CPD programmes over the years and has successfully improved the quality of teaching in all of the providers he has worked for.
A firm believer in the idea that social justice should be facilitated through high-quality, Government-funded education, he considers that 16-19 provision can be a beneficial springboard into adult life and an opportunity to redress social inequalities.
Will is an advocate of a hybrid model in education; that research-informed approaches can be combined powerfully with elements of ‘progressive’ approaches to education - and that this approach truly services the nuanced plurality of the real classroom.
Will has an MA in teaching and learning. His research focus was on digital learning and disciplinary literacy in the vocational FE sector.
