The Colourful Box is a group of highly experienced educational professionals offering a range of training and CPD solutions with an emphasis on cognitive science and digital education.
At the heart of our ideology is the idea that education is a nuanced and complex business; that inside the classroom exists a plurality of identities and needs.
Our name is a knowing play on Black and Wiliam’s seminal publication, however, rather than the inside of this box being black, we seek to promote a vivid and consciously colourful learning experience.

CPD Solutions
The Colourful Box provides bespoke low-cost, high-impact solutions that address current and perennial trends and imperatives in the educational sector. We will introduce your team to ‘evidence-informed’ principles from the field of cognitive science, exploring the theory and applying it in the context of engaging activities. This permits teachers to actually experience and appreciate the true implications of these learning theories (cognitive load for example) and to factor this into their own planning. We will also provide your team with the knowledge and skills required to deliver outstanding practice in digital pedagogy, exploring the possibilities of a variety of digital platforms and tools.
We will help you to cut through the noise and bombast of ed-tech claims and gimmicks, to identify the tools that actually work in the classroom.
Training is generally a mix of face-to-face sessions supported by access to online materials to consolidate concepts and learning.
Social Impact
Like many teachers, we are motivated by the social impact that education can have on communities. We recognise that high-quality, Government-funded education should have the power to level the playing field and reduce social inequality (Elliot Major and Higgins, 2019; Collins, 2019).
Affordability
We are eager to ensure that our services are affordable for all providers, not just those that benefit from economies of scale. We operate a stratified pricing system that considers your size as a provider and determines cost considering this as a factor. Ultimately, we aim for our services to be affordable for all.
We are able to build bespoke training packages around your specific needs, and these are in reach of all providers.
